SMS, email, WhatsApp or QR code: which fits?

You have some customers' mobile numbers, others' email addresses, and some you only see at the counter. Here is what each channel does and what it costs.

SMS

  • Goes straight to the phone. Good for customers whose mobile number you have.
  • Uses credits: One SMS costs 1 credit, to any country. One SMS holds up to 160 characters, or up to 70 with emojis or characters like á, ç or curly quotes (“ ”). Letters like é, ñ and ü count normally. A longer message counts as several SMS.
  • Your customers see your sender name, for example your business name.
  • SMS to the US and Canada need a sender number first. We set it up for you; it takes about a week.

Email

  • Included in your plan. Your customers tap the stars right in the email.
  • Basic includes 300 email requests a month, Pro 1,000 and Business 2,500. During the trial at most 100 emails go out.
  • Email reminders come with every plan.

WhatsApp

  • Free. Citypicked prepares the message and you send it from your own WhatsApp.
  • You send each message one by one; for lists, use SMS or email. There are no automatic reminders here.

QR code

  • Free. For customers right in front of you: at the counter, on tables, on the receipt.
  • You need no number and no address. Anyone who scans lands right on your review page.
